Memorable Experience

One of my most memorable experiences at Careworks was my first two weeks with the company. It was a whirlwind of travel, meetings, and introductions, but it gave me an opportunity to connect with colleagues, peers, and executive leaders across the organization. What I remember most was not the schedule, it was the talent, enthusiasm, and sense of purpose I encountered everywhere I went. Those early interactions showed me that Careworks’ greatest strength is its people and that impression has stayed with me ever since.

I knew Careworks was the right fit because the organization’s values aligned with my own—putting people first, embracing innovation, and continuously striving for better outcomes. The opportunity to lead alongside talented colleagues and help shape the future of managed care for the people we serve made for a clear choice.

Power of Choice

To me, the power of choice is deciding every day to leave things better than we found them. In our industry, that means choosing collaboration over competition, innovation over complacency, and empathy in every interaction. Meaningful progress happens when leaders intentionally choose to challenge the status quo and create better outcomes for our colleagues, clients, and injured employees.

When I need a reminder of this, I think about my favorite quote. It is from Kobe Bryant, and it is, “The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time.” This resonates with me both personally and professionally. For me, it is a strong reminder not to wait for the perfect moment to lead, to connect, to learn, or to act. Time is fleeting, which is why I strive to be intentional about how I spend it, who I spend it with, and the impact I choose to make.
